The Real Terrorists
On September 11, 2001, Arab Muslim hijackers flew two jets into the World Trade Center towers killing as many as 5,000 innocent, or otherwise unaware, people.
Ten years prior, between January and August of 1991, more than 46,000 children died in Iraq due to war and sanctions imposed by the United States. This number is almost ten times higher than America's terrorist casualties were during the WTC attacks and the number is still growing.
In 1982, an Israeli soldier triggered a land mine with his jeep while driving through illegally occupied Lebanon. In retaliation for what leaders deemed a “PLO terrorist act”, Israel bombed PLO centers south of Beirut killing two dozen people.
In an attempt to fight international terrorism, the UN General Assembly tried to ratify a “Resolution on Terrorism” which condemned terrorism and outlined measures to combat the crime with one specific rule: “that nothing in the present resolution could in anyway prejudice the right to self-determination, freedom and independence, as derived form the charter of the United Nations, of peoples forcibly deprived of that right…, particularly peoples under colonial and racist regimes and foreign occupation or other forms of colonial domination, nor…the right of these peoples to struggle to this end and to seek and receive support” (42/159 December 7, 1987).
The resolution was voted 153-2, US and Israel voting against the measure while Honduras alone abstained. Through the US' veto power, the resolution never made it passed the drawing board (Chomsky).
Everyday, radical fascists murder men, women and children. These soldiers' government drives the oppressed people from their homes and into “refugee camps” which amount to nothing more than shoddy tents set up, if only to act as sores in the eyes of the bereaved. To add to the frustration of the people, warplanes and tanks strafe and shell the tents, killing thousands of innocent or other wise unsuspecting people…
How much longer will the real terrorists be at large?
